ALM Kia South

4310 Jonesboro Rd, Union City, GA 30291
Kia franchise · ALM Automotive Group (24 rooftops) · in business since 2014
Website platform: Dealer Inspire · ~600 units listed
61/100
Grade C · benchmark 58–65 · at average

This store has real equity and it is sitting in the wrong places. A lifetime powertrain warranty their marketplace profile never mentions. Six Cars.com awards their own site never mentions. 4.6 stars from 11,342 people and no response program. A trade page that tells shoppers they quit the program.

ALM Kia South is a high-volume franchise store inside a 24-rooftop group. Syndication is healthy, the site is on a modern platform, and the customers genuinely like the place. Findability is ordinary for the segment.

Nothing here is a capability gap. Every problem in this report is an asset that exists and is not deployed where it would do work, which is the most sellable kind of problem there is. Nobody works the reputation surface. There is no trade capture at all. Their strongest differentiator never reaches the shoppers most likely to be persuaded by it. Three separate vendors own pieces of a funnel nobody owns end to end.

None of that requires convincing an owner their store is bad, which is usually the obstacle in a conversation like this one.

Read the score as a way of ranking this account against others in the book, not as a verdict on the business. See Scoring caveat before you quote the number to anyone.

The syndication read

Syndication is not their problem. They are on every major marketplace with roughly 600 units each and the counts are consistent, which means the feed is healthy and pushing to all of them. Edmunds is the one true hole, and Edmunds is a lower-value channel than the others. Do not lead a pitch with "you're missing Edmunds." Lead with what the syndication is landing on when a shopper arrives.

02

The rating spread

Same store, same month, same customers. The number a shopper sees depends entirely on which tab they opened.

Scale 0–5 stars, sample size beside each platform. Google shown in accent as the anchor: it carries 390x the sample of CarGurus. Cars.com, Autotrader and Yelp omitted, no numeric rating surfaced on their dealer pages during this audit.

Weight these by sample size and the story inverts. The store's real customer sentiment is 4.6 across 11,342 people. That is the number with statistical authority behind it, and it is a good number for a high-volume franchise store.

CarGurus shows shoppers 3.34 on 29 reviews. That is not a measurement of the store, it is an artifact of a profile nobody has touched, sitting on the platform their biggest marketplace competitor owns. A cross-shopper who checks CarGurus sees a 3.3 and never learns about the 4.6.

That gap is the cleanest argument in the audit, because it does not require telling the dealer anything is wrong with their business. Something is wrong with what shoppers are being shown about their business, which is a much easier thing for an owner to hear.

61 / 100, Grade C, inside the 58–65 auto benchmark. An average-performing store, not a struggling one. Reputation carries full marks on Google rating and volume and zero on response rate, which is the whole account in one row.

This number has moved from 47 to 61 across eight revisions, almost every point of it from a human checking something the crawl got wrong or could not see. See the scoring caveat and the scope note.

Website and Technology dropped a point when the dead trade page surfaced: content integrity went to zero, offset by better lead capture than first credited. Worth noticing that the score barely moved while the sales case got substantially stronger. That gap is the argument for not leading with the number.

An earlier version of this report scored Local SEO at 10 of 25 by counting marketplace call tracking numbers as citation fragmentation. That was wrong and the cap has been removed. See the scoring caveat for what changed and why.

Findings

Every claim is tagged by source, not by how sure I am. Confirmed means I read the page. Inferred means one source or a deduction. Unverified means the tooling cannot reach it and you need to look yourself.

01

Roughly 23,500 reviews across five platforms, and no response program Confirmed

11,342 on Google at 4.6 stars, 5,811 on Cars.com, 5,417 on DealerRater at 4.2, 791 on Carfax at 4.0, 226 on Yelp. Not one review on the DealerRater or recent Cars.com pages I read carries a dealer response block.

This is the account. The store has earned more review volume than most twenty-store groups manage and is capturing none of the compounding benefit: no response signal, no service recovery, no second bite at a detractor. The 4x-positive-reviews-with-automated-responses number lands harder here than anywhere else in the book because the volume is already sitting there unworked.

02

The Value Your Trade page tells shoppers the dealer quit the program Confirmed

The page loads with full Kelley Blue Book and Instant Cash Offer branding, then reads: "This subscriber no longer participates in the Kelley Blue Book® Instant Cash Offer program." The subscription lapsed and nobody took the page down.

Three things are wrong at once. Every trade-intent shopper who reaches that page leaves with nothing. The store is still displaying a competitor's logos, on its own site, in order to announce that it let the subscription go. And it means the store has no trade valuation tool at all, which at roughly 600 units is an acquisition problem wearing a website problem's clothes.

This is the single most concrete thing in the audit. It is visible in one click, it is unarguable, and it is not a matter of opinion about their marketing.

03

Their strongest why-buy messaging never reaches the Cars.com profile Confirmed

The homepage carousel leads with the ALM Lifetime Powertrain Warranty: for as long as you own the vehicle, no expiration date, no expiration mileage. Behind it sits the ALM VIP Club with published terms. On new: a 3-year/32,000-mile maintenance program with full synthetic oil, four tire rotations, four details, a free service loaner, $500 toward the next vehicle. On certified pre-owned: StatedCare 12-month/12,000-mile coverage or the Select Plus 12-month premium package, a year of maintenance, a 7-day vehicle exchange policy, the same $500.

Their Cars.com profile offers a hassle-free shopping experience, nationwide shipping, and customer satisfaction as their primary objective. A hundred other stores could have written that paragraph.

A lifetime powertrain warranty and a 7-day exchange policy are objection-killers for a used-car shopper, and they are missing from the one surface where in-market buyers are actively comparing this store against five others. Free to fix, fixed by you rather than by them, and the most natural first deliverable in the account. Pair it with finding 11: the awards run the same way, earned on Cars.com and absent from their own site.

04

No trade CTA anywhere, and three vendors own pieces of the funnel Confirmed

The conversion paths are "I'm Interested" (a generic lead form), "Personalize Your Payment" (AutoFi), and "Estimate Financing" (Capital One). There is no trade CTA on the site at all. The primary above-the-fold CTA on the homepage is "Schedule Service."

So Dealer Inspire owns the website, AutoFi owns payments and digital retail, Capital One owns financing pre-qualification, and nobody owns trade. This corrects an earlier note in this report that said no digital retail tool was present. There is one. It belongs to somebody else, and it is running inside a Dealer Inspire site.

The group site runs on Overfuel while the rooftop runs on Dealer Inspire Confirmed

almcars.com carries "Powered by overfuel.com" in the footer and lists all 24 locations. almkiasouth.com carries "Advanced Automotive Dealer Websites by Dealer Inspire" plus Dealer Inspire S3 asset paths. A competitor holds the group layer above your rooftop. That is both a threat to the DI seat you already have and the largest expansion opportunity in the account.

06

Their websites close Sunday at 6. Google says they are open until 8 Confirmed

The ALM group site lists this store Sunday 12–6. The Google Business Profile shows Sunday sales 12–8. Verified by hand on GBP, so this one is solid.

Google is the surface almost every local shopper actually checks, and it is the one that is right. The websites are two hours short. A Sunday afternoon shopper deciding whether the drive is worth it sees a store about to close. Cheap to fix, and the kind of specific, checkable thing that earns a second meeting.

07

Website lists 478 area code numbers and nobody can say why Confirmed

Sales 478-217-7230, service 478-888-2204, parts 478-818-7959. The 478 area code is Macon, roughly 90 miles southeast, and every other surface shows metro Atlanta numbers.

This is not a ranking problem. Area code carries no geographic weight in local search; Google places a business by its verified address and profile, not its phone prefix. It is an attribution question. If this is deliberate group call routing, fine. If a tracking configuration is misrouting, the store's call data is wrong and nobody has caught it. Worth one question on the first call, not a slide.

08

No Edmunds dealer profile located Inferred Internal only

Two direct attempts at the canonical Edmunds dealership URL pattern returned 404, and no Edmunds result appeared in three targeted searches. Edmunds does maintain dealer pages for Union City, so the pattern works in this market. A strong signal, not proof.

This never goes in front of the dealer. Edmunds is a competitor. The value here is yours, not theirs: their marketplace attention is concentrated where you already sit, and no one is building an Edmunds relationship to defend against. Do not raise it, do not put it in a leave-behind, and do not let it into a business review.

Edmunds does list Union City dealers

09

Owner listed as Khushwant Bhatia, service director Ed Curry Inferred

Both names come from the BBB profile only. The About Us page names no staff at all and there is no meet-the-team page, so there is no second first-party source to corroborate against. Confirm before using either name in outreach.

BBB profileAbout Us, no names

10

The About page names nobody and shows nothing they have won Confirmed

No staff, no owner, no general manager, no founding date, no awards. Meanwhile their Cars.com profile carries employee profiles and six awards: a 2014 Georgia State Dealer Award plus Consumer Dealer Awards for 2015 through 2019.

The missing staff page is the one worth raising. Buyers search for salespeople by name, and they walk in having already decided who to ask for. A store carrying roughly 23,500 reviews has a great many named employees inside those reviews and nowhere on its own site for that traffic to land. Real gap, cheap to close, and recommending it costs you nothing because it is their business you are improving.

The awards are finding 03 running in the other direction: earned on your platform, invisible on theirs.

11

No third-party review sources surface on the Google profile Confirmed

The GBP carries 11,342 Google reviews and no other review sites are listed alongside them. Google sometimes surfaces a "Reviews from the web" block drawing on third-party platforms; here it shows nothing.

Less urgent than it first looked. Their Google surface is already their strongest asset at 4.6 on 11,342, so third-party reviews appearing there would add little. The finding runs the other way: the platform carrying their best numbers is the one Cars Commerce products do not touch, and the platforms we do touch are where the ratings are weakest. Unverified as to cause.

Google Business Profile, checked manually 3 Sep 2026. The Google star rating was not captured and no claim about it appears in this report.

05

Local competitive context

Kia stores within 50 miles of Union City, as rated on CarGurus. The whole set is thin on CarGurus review volume, which is worth knowing before you frame their 3.3 as an outlier.

ALM Kia South has more CarGurus reviews than any competitor on this list and the second-lowest rating. That is the honest framing: they are the most visible store in the set and the visibility is working against them on that one platform. Confirmed source

06

Cars Commerce whitespace

They already have marketplace and they already have Dealer Inspire. That kills the two easy pitches and leaves the four that are actually worth money.

Held at Premium

Cars.com marketplace

On platform since July 2018, 5,811 reviews, six awards, confirmed on Premium. One tier of headroom. Before the tier conversation there is a free one: the profile copy is boilerplate while their lifetime warranty and VIP Club sit unused on their own homepage. Fix the merchandising first, earn the right to talk about Premium+ second.

Partial

Dealer Inspire

Site is theirs. Online Shopper is not absent, it is occupied: AutoFi runs payments and digital retail inside their DI site today. That makes it a displacement, harder than greenfield but clearer, because both products sit on the same page. Conversations is still unconfirmed.

Open

DealerRater

The strongest single play. 5,417 reviews at 4.2 with zero visible responses, against 4.6 on Google. The 0.4 gap is what an unmanaged profile costs, and response automation is the standard way to close it. Roughly 23,500 reviews across five platforms and no program on any of them.

Open

Accu-Trade

No incumbent. The Instant Cash Offer subscription is dead and the page is still live announcing it. No trade CTA anywhere on the site. This is an open hole, not a displacement, and it maps to the constraint every used-car operation actually has, which is acquisition.

Open

Media / FUEL

No evidence of Cars Commerce media spend. With ~600 units and a 24-rooftop parent, in-market video is a group-scale conversation, not a rooftop one.

Open

The group layer

almcars.com on Overfuel across 24 rooftops. Winning the group site is a far larger deal than anything at this store, and losing it eventually threatens the DI seat you hold.

Where to aim

Do not sell this as a rooftop. The store's website vendor is already yours, its marketplace subscription is seven years old, and the real decisions on media, reputation and platform are being made one level up at ALM Automotive Group. The rooftop GM is the way in, not the buyer. Identify the group marketing or digital director before you spend a visit here.

Open with the trade page. It costs them money today, it takes one click to show, and it opens the acquisition conversation without you having to argue about anything. If that page is broken here, check whether it is broken at the other 23 rooftops before the second meeting.

The deal shape is already visible. Premium to Premium+ on a subscription they have held for seven years, DealerRater against roughly 23,500 unanswered reviews, and Accu-Trade into a trade function that does not currently exist. Three named products, none of them a website, each attached to something specific and checkable at this store. That is the multi-product conversation rather than a listing renewal.

Opening questions for the first meeting

07

Verify before sending

Five things this audit could not confirm to first-party standard. Roughly two minutes of checking. Do not put any of them in writing to the dealer until you have.

  1. Google review response rate Rating (4.6), volume (11,342) and hours are all confirmed. What is not known is whether anyone answers the Google reviews specifically. DealerRater and Cars.com show none; if Google is also unanswered, the response gap is total.
  2. Whether an Edmunds dealer profile exists Search Edmunds directly for "ALM Kia South". Two URL patterns 404'd but that is not proof of absence.
  3. Owner name Khushwant Bhatia and service director Ed Curry BBB is the only source. Cross-check against LinkedIn or the Georgia dealer license lookup before using either name.
  4. Whether the 478 numbers are deliberate group routing Call 478-217-7230 and hear who answers. Decides whether this is policy or a broken tracking config. It is an attribution question either way, not an SEO one.
  5. Whether a live chat widget is running Digital retail is confirmed as AutoFi and financing as Capital One. Chat is the one piece of the DI expansion picture still unknown.
  6. Cars.com contract and renewal date Tier confirmed as Premium. What is still unknown is the renewal timing and whether Premium+ has been pitched before, both of which change how and when you raise the upgrade.
  7. Whether the dead trade page repeats across the other 23 ALM rooftops Spot-check three or four from almcars.com. If the group let ICO lapse everywhere, this stops being a store conversation.
08

Method and caveats

Scoring caveat, and a correction to the first version of this report

The first version scored this store at 47 of 100 and was wrong. It counted eleven phone numbers across seven platforms as citation fragmentation and applied the rubric's NAP auto-cap, dropping Local SEO to 10 of 25.

That was a category error. The numbers on Cars.com, Autotrader, CarGurus and Carfax are those marketplaces' own dynamic number insertion, not the dealer's citations, and Google does not build a local ranking signal out of them. Nor does area code carry geographic weight: Google places a business by its verified address and profile, not its phone prefix. The cap has been removed, the fragmentation finding deleted, and Local SEO rescored to 17 of 25 on what can actually be evaluated. Name and address are consistent on every surface checked.

The narrow case where call tracking genuinely can touch consistency is the number in a site's HTML source versus the GBP primary. The standard fix is dynamic insertion that displays the tracking number while leaving the real one hardcoded in the source, with the tracking number as GBP primary and the real number in the additional-phone field. Whether almkiasouth.com does this was not determined.

The score has since moved again as human checks corrected the crawl: 47 to 54 when the phone finding was withdrawn, to 57 when Google came back at 4.6 on 11,342 reviews, to 60 when the lifetime warranty and VIP Club turned up in a homepage carousel the crawl never rendered.

That trajectory is the real lesson. An automated audit of a franchise store systematically under-rates it, because the things a good store does well tend to live in carousels, widgets and profiles a fetch cannot see, while the things it does badly are plain text. Six revisions moved this store from "F, struggling" to "C, at benchmark." Treat any unverified score here as a floor, not an estimate.

Scope: what a Cars Commerce audit does and does not cover

This report was rescoped after the first drafts wandered outside the lane. Three rules now apply.

BBB is out. Their BBB profile carries a C rating and unresolved complaints. No Cars Commerce product touches it, it is not a channel you influence, and raising it reads as a general web audit rather than a marketplace conversation. It was removed from the findings and from the reputation score. If a dealer brings it up, fine. You do not.

Competitor platforms are intel, never advice. The Edmunds gap tells you something useful about where their marketplace attention sits. It is not a recommendation and it does not appear in anything dealer-facing. The same rule applies to their CarGurus profile: the 3.34 is worth understanding as context for what cross-shoppers see, but the fix you sell is on your own surfaces, not theirs.

Advice that helps their business is in, even when it sells nothing. The missing staff page is the example. No Cars Commerce line item attaches to it, and it is still the right thing to tell them, because it is a real gap and pointing it out is what an agency of record does. Free, correct advice is how the platform conversation gets earned.

Platform attribution, two-signal rule

Dealer Inspire on almkiasouth.com is CONFIRMED on two independent signals: the footer string "Advanced Automotive Dealer Websites by Dealer Inspire" and the asset URL pattern dealerinspire-shared-assets.s3.amazonaws.com. Overfuel on almcars.com is CONFIRMED on the footer string "Powered by overfuel.com". No third-party data tool was used for either, because ZoomInfo and Apollo are frequently wrong on dealer platform attribution.

What this audit cannot see

Google Maps and Google Business Profile: not readable, ever, by this tooling. Yelp page bodies: robots-blocked. Page speed: not measured, so no claim about it appears here. Traffic, bounce rate, conversion rate, domain authority: no analytics access, and no numbers were invented to fill the gap. Facebook and Instagram presence beyond the confirmed @almkiasouth1 handle was not swept.

One territory note

Union City is south metro Atlanta, roughly 470 miles from Covington. This store is not in the New Orleans, Baton Rouge or Lafayette territory. If this is practice or a referral to another AE, disregard. If a group-level conversation with ALM Automotive Group is the real target, the 24 rooftops are worth mapping to see whether any sit in the Louisiana territory.
